Berlin | PROM Project | Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

In April 2025, I had the pleasure of spending a focused yet peaceful research week in Berlin, thanks to the PROM academic exchange programme coordinated at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw (WPiA UW), under the leadership of Dean Prof. Piotr Grzebyk.

My visit, hosted by the Walter Hallstein-Institut and the Chair of Public Law and European Law at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, offered not only time for academic work on publications and literature, but—perhaps even more importantly—space for genuine intellectual exchange with local scholars.

Among the many memorable elements of the stay, one stood out for its quiet symbolism: my own key to the WHI library. Sometimes, it’s the small gestures that reflect a great academic welcome.

“The atmosphere at Humboldt and the opportunity to engage in thoughtful legal discussions with Berlin-based colleagues were simply invaluable. It was a short visit, but a meaningful one.”

We are proud to see our PfG researchers represent the University of Warsaw in world-class institutions around the globe.

These research visits are part of the PROM Programme (NAWA), supporting international academic mobility among PhD candidates and academic staff at the University of Warsaw.

Stanislaw Gorzelinski, our PhD candidate at the Chair of Transnational Law – on a research stay at none other than… Stanford University!

Thanks to the PROM academic exchange programme, he is representing the Uniwersytet Warszawski at one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world.

During his stay, Stanisław is attending classes and events at Stanford, engaging in academic debates, and working intensively on his doctoral dissertation.

Last week, he took part in the Dangerous Democracy conference hosted by Stanford Law School, which focused on the threats to civil rights posed by autocratic movements around the globe.

In his own words: “It is truly inspiring to be able to visit Stanford and take part in the academic discourse here. The community is passionate and always willing to engage in thought provoking conversations. Not to mention the amazing library resources which are second to none :)”

We’re grateful to the University of Warsaw for enabling such opportunities – they are invaluable for the growth of young researchers and the future of Polish academia.

3. Dr Jagna Mucha: Cambridge/Boston | PROM Project | Harvard Law School

Cambridge/Boston | PROM Project | Harvard Law School

In March 2025 dr Jagna Mucha visited Harvard Law School– she conducted there a comparative research on consumer law enforcement in 🇺🇸 and 🇪🇺 , thanks to the scholarship funded by the PROM Program by NAWA – Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

👁️ While exploring Harvard University, the most valuable aspect the research was the countless discussions about the recent changes in consumer law made by Trump’s administration. Engaging with academics and practitioners from all over the world is my favorite part of this job- it consistently inspires and motivates me to pursue further research and simply gives me a lot of joy.

Apart from library search, at the HLS dr Jagna Mucha took part in:
➡️  Negotiation workshops with Prof. Neil McGaraghan;
➡️  Meeting with people from the HLS Consumer Protection Clinic (thanks you Alexa Rosenbloom)
➡️ New research on Europe Seminars with the Center for European Studies at Harvard (with Marcin Wroński, Katarzyna Wojnicka)
➡️ Amazing lecture by Prof. Rory Van Loo on ‘Consumer Agents’ at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University;
➡️ Talk with the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Marko Bošnjak, about the role of courts in tackling democratic backsliding;
➡️ Conversation with Justice Stephen Breyer on interpreting legal texts (wow!).

While visiting Boston:
➡️ Dr Jagna Mucha participated in the Consumer Law Scholars Conference organized by Boston University and the Berkeley Center for Consumer Law & Economic Justice!
➡️ She visited National Consumer Law Center in Boston and its Director of Litigation- Shennan Kavanagh.

It was a very rich stay. Thanks very much to Everyone who made it so special.
